The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 Taught the Quran. 2 He created the human 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
