The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
