The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
