The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
