۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 “And stop them they are to be questioned.” 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
