But as for anyone who chooses to remain blind to the remembrance of the Most Gracious, to him We assign an [enduring] evil impulse, to become his other self: 36 and they bar them from the way, and they think they are guided, 37 till, when he comes to Us, he says, 'Would there had been between me and thee the distance of the two Easts!' An evil comrade! 38 (It will be said to them) “And you will not benefit from them this day, whereas you are unjust – for you are all partners in the punishment.” 39 What, shalt thou make the deaf to hear, or shalt thou guide the blind and him who is in manifest error? 40 We shall punish them whether We take you away, 41 Or (if) We show thee that wherewith We threaten them; for lo! We have complete command of them. 42 Therefore hold fast to that which has been revealed to you; surely you are on the right path. 43 The Quran is a reminder to you and to your people and you will soon be questioned about it. 44 And ask those We sent before you of Our messengers; have We made besides the Most Merciful deities to be worshipped? 45
