The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 [an angel] endowed with surpassing power, who in time manifested himself in his true shape and nature, 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 [And withal,] the eye did not waver, nor yet did it stray: 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Are yours the males and His the females? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
