The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 for, how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
