The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Compassionate. 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created the human being 3 He hath taught him utterance. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 And the plants and the trees prostrate (for Him). 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 There cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
