Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say: 'It is revealed to me that a party of jinn listened then said: "We have indeed heard a wonderful Koran, 1 Which guides to the right path; and we have come to believe in it, and will not associate any one with our Lord. 2 And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: 3 'And that the foolish among us [i.e. Iblis (Satan) or the polytheists amongst the jinns] used to utter against Allah that which was wrong and not right. 4 and that [we were mistaken when] we thought that neither man nor [any of] the invisible forces would ever tell a lie about God. 5 And persons among humankind have been seeking refuge with persons of the jinn, so that they increased them in evil disposition. 6 'And they thought as you thought, that Allah will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns). 7 And (the Jinn who had listened to the Qur'an said): We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong warders and meteors. 8 And we were wont to sit on seats therein to listen; but whosoever listeneth now findeth for him a dartin meteor in wait. 9 we cannot tell if this bodes evil to those who dwell on earth or whether their Lord intends to guide them. 10 Just as [we do not know how it happens] that some from among us are righteous, while some of us are [far] below that: we have always followed widely divergent paths. 11 We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. 12 When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. 13 And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; 14 And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. 15 And had they kept to the path surely We would have watered them with rain plenteous. 16 That We might try them thereby. And whosoever turns away from the Reminder of his Lord (i.e. this Quran, and practice not its laws and orders), He will cause him to enter in a severe torment (i.e. Hell). 17 And that the mosques are Allah's, therefore call not upon any one with Allah: 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
