The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
