The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ AR-RAHMAN 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 16 [He is] the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunrise, and the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunset. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
