The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
