The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
