۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 on couches facing each other. 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 What, do we then not die 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
