The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 who seeks to drive you from your land!" Pharaoh said, "What then do you advise?" 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (awhile) and send out heralds to the cities 111 to summon every wellversed sorcerer to you' 112 And the magicians came unto Fir'awn. They said: surely there is for us a reward if we are the overcomers. 113 'Yes' he answered, 'and you will be among those near' 114 They said: 'Moses, will you throw first or shall we be the throwers' 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And We revealed to Musa, saying: Cast your rod; then lo! it devoured the lies they told. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 They said, 'We believe in the Lord of all Being, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 Fir'awn said: believed ye in him ere I have given you leave? Verily this is a plot ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive forth the people thereof. So presently ye shall know. 123 Surely I shall have your hands and feet cut off upon alternate sides. Then I shall crucify you every one. 124 They said: Surely to our Lord shall we go back: 125 You only take revenge on us because we believed in the Lord when we saw His miracles. Lord, grant us patience and let us die Muslims (submitted to God)." 126
