We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 And the jinn, We had created them afore of the fire of the scroching wind. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 until the day of a known time." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 Over My true servants you will be able to exercise no power, your power will be confined to the erring ones, those who choose to follow you. 42 "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44
