And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
