The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right hand; 38
