Nay! By the moon 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 it is a warning to man, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
