Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the loosed ones successively 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 and raise (clouds) and scatter them around, 3 Then separate them, one from another, 4 and then giving forth a reminder, 5 To complete the argument or to warn. 6 Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. 7 Then when the stars lose their lights; 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 and the mountains scattered, 10 And when the time of the Noble Messengers arrives. 11 For which day were they appointed? 12 For the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]! 13 Would that you knew what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Did We not destroy the ancient people 16 And We shall let them be followed by those of later times: 17 Thus do We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 19 Did We not create you from a weak water, 20 We then kept it in a safe place. 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 We determined, how excellent a Determiner are We! 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Have We not made the earth a housing 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 Proceed to that which you denied. 29 Depart unto the shadow falling threefold, 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 Verily it shall cast forth sparks like unto a castle. 32 "As if there were (a string of) yellow camels (marching swiftly)." 33 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 34 They will not be able to speak that day, 35 neither be given leave, and excuse themselves. 36 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 37 This is the day of decision: We have gathered you and those of yore. 38 If you are cunning, then try your cunning against Me! 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
