The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the breath of morning 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
