Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The true event! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 In an elevated garden, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
