The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and extended shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virginal, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
