He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he fears, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
