۞ Before this We gave Abraham his guidance. We knew him well. 51 When he asked his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so devoted?" 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them". 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said: "In fact it was your Lord, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them; and I bear witness to this. 56 And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs. 57 So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 'No' he replied. 'It was their great one amongst them that did it. Ask them, if they are able to speak' 63 So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie upon you and that you serve apart from God! Do you not understand?' 67 They said, "Burn him and help your deities, if you are resolved to do something." 68 Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham." 69 They sought to outwit him, but We made them the worst of losers. 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 And We bestowed him Ishaq, and Yaqub the grandson; and We made all of them worthy of Our proximity. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers. 73 And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. 74 whereas him We admitted unto Our grace: for, behold, he was among the righteous. 75
