He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you ignore him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
