The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
