The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
