And most surely this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. 192 trustworthy divine inspiration has alighted with it from on high 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 In order that he read it to them, even then they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Quran) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 So for Our punishment are they impatient? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 And afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised! 206 That which they were made to enjoy shall not avail them? 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, 208 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 it behoves them not, neither are they able. 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 So do not call any other god beside Allah lest you become of those who will be punished, 213 Warn your close relatives 214 and be meek to the believers who follow you. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 And (seeth) thine abasement among those who fall prostrate (in worship). 219 For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 who readily lend ear [to every falsehood,] and most of whom lie to others as well. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Do you not see how they wander aimlessly in every valley, 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
