Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Most Auspicious is He in Whose control is the entire kingship; and He is Able to do all things. 1 He who has created death as well as life, so that He might put you to a test [and thus show] which of you is best in conduct, and [make you realize that] He alone is almighty, truly forgiving. 2 He Who created the seven heavens one above another: No want of proportion wilt thou see in the Creation of (Allah) Most Gracious. So turn thy vision again: seest thou any flaw? 3 Again turn thy vision a second time: (thy) vision will come back to thee dull and discomfited, in a state worn out. 4 We have adorned the lowest heaven with lamps, and We have made them for driving away devils. For them We have prepared the punishment of the blazing Fire. 5 And for those who disbelieved in their Lord, is the punishment of hell; and what a wretched outcome! 6 When they will be cast thereinto, they will hear thereof a braying even as it boileth up, 7 It almost explodes in rage. Whenever a group is thrown into it, its keepers will ask them, "Did no one come to warn you?" 8 They will say: yea! surely there came a warner unto us, but we belied, and said: God hath not sent down aught, we are naught but in a great error. 9 And they will then say: 'If only we had listened and understood we should not now be among the inhabitants of the Blaze' 10 They will confess to their sins, but the dwellers of hell will be far away from God's (mercy). 11 Those who fear their Lord in secret will receive forgiveness and a great reward. 12 And whether you speak softly or proclaim it aloud; He indeed knows what lies within the hearts! 13 Does He not know, Who created? And He is the Knower of the subtleties, the Aware. 14
