Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
