And remember Ibrahim in the Book; he was very truthful, a Herald of the Hidden (a Prophet). 41 He said to his father, "Why do you worship something that can neither hear nor see nor benefit you in any way? 42 Father, I have received the knowledge which has not been given to you. Follow me; I shall guide you to the right path. 43 Father, serve not Satan; surely Satan is a rebel against the All-merciful. 44 Father, I fear that some chastisement from the All-merciful will smite thee, so that thou becomest a friend to Satan. 45 [His father] said, "Have you no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time." 46 Abraham answered: "Peace be upon you. I shall seek pardon for you from my Lord. My Lord has always been kind to Me. 47 I shall stay away from you and what you worship instead of God. I worship my Lord and hope that my prayers will not be ignored." 48 So when he had separated himself from them and from what they worshipped besides God, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and We made each of them a prophet. 49 And We gave them of Our mercy, and we made for them a reputation of high honor. 50
