Whatever hardship befalls you is the result of your own deeds. God pardons many of your sins. 30 And you cannot escape from Allah (i.e. His Punishment) in the earth, and besides Allah you have neither any Wali (guardian or a protector) nor any helper. 31 Ships sailing in the ocean like ensigns are a sign of His. 32 If it be His Will He can still the Wind: then would they become motionless on the back of the (ocean). Verily in this are Signs for everyone who patiently perseveres and is grateful. 33 Or He could wreck them for what they have done; yet there is much that He pardons. 34 He knows all those who dispute His revelations. They will find no way to escape from (His torment). 35 So whatever you have been given is but a passing enjoyment for this worldly life, but that which is with Allah (Paradise) is better and more lasting for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and put their trust in their Lord (concerning all of their affairs). 36 And those who avoid the major sins and indecencies and, when angered, forgive; 37 And those who answer the Call of their Lord [i.e. to believe that He is the only One Lord (Allah), and to worship none but Him Alone], and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and who (conduct) their affairs by mutual consultation, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them; 38 and those who, when suffering a great injustice, seek to defend themselves. 39 The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loveth not those who do wrong. 40 Yet indeed, as for any who defend themselves after having been wronged - no blame whatever attaches to them: 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress mankind, and wrongfully rebel in the earth. For such there is a painful doom. 42 But withal, if one is patient in adversity and forgives - this, behold, is indeed something to set one's heart upon! 43
