The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the sky full of great constellations, 1 And the promised day, 2 By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness;- 3 The companions of the pit were killed 4 by a burning fire 5 They sat by it 6 And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. 7 And they did not take vengeance on them for aught except that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praised, 8 Him, Whose is the dominion of heavens and the earth. And Allah is over everything a Witness. 9 Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them and burning them), and then do not turn in repentance, (to Allah), will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire. 10 Surely for those who believe and do the right are gardens with rivers running by. That is the greatest success. 11 Stern indeed is your Lord's punishment. 12 It is He who creates all things and causes them to return. 13 And He alone is truly-forgiving, all-embracing in His love, 14 in sublime almightiness enthroned, 15 He does what He intends (or wills). 16 Has it come to you the story of the hosts 17 (The armies of) Firaun and the tribe of Thamud. 18 Yet the infidels persist in denial. 19 However, God encompassed their activities. 20 Nay! This is a Glorious Quran, 21 in a guarded tablet. 22

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
