Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
