The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
