The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
