The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the breath of morning 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
