The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
