AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark-slime transmuted 26 and the jinn before (the human being) of smokeless fire. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 He said: "It does not behove of me to prostrate myself before a human being whom You have created out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud." 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." 36 He said: So surely you are of the respited ones 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 Iblis said: "My Lord! In the manner You led me to error, I will make things on earth seem attractive to them and lead all of them to error, 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 It has seven gates; for every gate there shall be a separate party of them. 44
