Also recount the story of Abraham in the Book. He was a man of truth, and a prophet. 41 Recall what time he said unto his father: O my father! wherefore worshippest thou that which heareth not and seeth not, nor availeth thee at all? 42 Father, knowledge has come to me which has not come you, therefore, follow me. I will guide you to a Level Path. 43 "O my father! Do not worship Satan - for, verily, Satan is a rebel against the Most Gracious! 44 Father, I am afraid that the Beneficent God's torment will strike you and you will become a friend of satan." 45 He answered: "Dost thou dislike my gods, O Abraham? Indeed, if thou desist not, I shall most certainly cause thee to be stoned to death! Now begone from me for good!" 46 Abraham said, "Peace be with you. I shall ask my Lord to forgive you; He has been gracious to me. 47 And I renounce you and that unto which ye call beside Allah; and I shall call unto my Lord; belike in calling unto my Lord I shall not be unblest. 48 Then when he had renounced them and that which they worshipped beside Allah, We bestowed on him Is'haq and Ya'qub and each one We made a prophet! 49 And We bestowed of Our Mercy on them, and We granted them lofty honour on the tongue of truth. 50
