Aaron had indeed told them earlier: "O my people, you are being only misled with this. Surely your Lord is Ar-Rahman. So follow me and obey my command." 90 They replied, "We shall not cease to worship it until Moses returns to us." 91 Moses said to Aaron, "What prevented you, when you saw that they had gone astray, 92 Did you disobey my orders?" 93 Answered [Aaron]: "O my mother's son! Seize me not by my beard, nor by my head! Behold, I was afraid lest [on thy return] thou say, 'Thou hast caused a split among the children of Israel, and hast paid no heed to my bidding!" 94 He said: What was then your object, O Samiri? 95 He replied: 'I saw what they did not see and seized a handful of dust from the foot print of the messenger and so I cast it; this my soul prompted me to do' 96 Musa said: begone thou! verily it shall be thine in life to say no contact; and verily thine is an appointment which thou shalt by no means fail. And look at thy god to which thou hast been assiduous; we shall surely burn it, and we shall scatter it into the sea a wide scattering. 97 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge. 98 Thus do We relate to thee some stories of what happened before: for We have sent thee a Message from Our own Presence. 99 Whoever turns away from it (this Quran i.e. does not believe in it, nor acts on its orders), verily, they will bear a heavy burden (of sins) on the Day of Resurrection, 100 which they shall bear forever. It will be a grievous burden for them on the Day of Judgement, 101 On the day when the Trumpet is blown and We shall assemble the guilty on that day, blue -eyed. 102 They will murmur among themselves, "You remained not but ten [days in the world]." 103 We are most knowing of what they say when the best of them in manner will say, "You remained not but one day." 104
