Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 and when I have formed him fully and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration! 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 [Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled. 34 Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.' 35 He said: my Lord! respite me then till the Day whereon they will be raised up. 36 (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee 37 "Till the predetermined time." 38 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,- 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 being perverse; Gehenna shall be their promised land all together. 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
