The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
