Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
