And Jonah too was one of the Messengers. 139 When he fled on the laden ship, 140 And then drew lots and was of those rejected; 141 The fish then swallowed him and he blamed himself. (For not waiting for Allah’s command.) 142 Had he not been of them who glorify Allah, 143 He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ but We caused him to be cast forth on a desert shore, sick [at heart] as he was, 145 And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him; 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, 147 And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time. 148 So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? 149 Did We create the angels females, to which they were witnesses? 150 Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say, 151 "Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars! 152 (And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons. 153 What is the matter with you? How do you judge? 154 Why do you not reflect? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful. 157 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. 158 (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, 159 Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted. 160 So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, 161 Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers], 162 Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire. 163 "There is not one of us who does not have his appointed place," (declare the angels.) 164 We stand in ranks (for prayer) 165 And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." 166 What, would they then say: 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” 168 We would have been the chosen servants of Allah." 169 But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! 170 We have already given Our promise to Our Messengers 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 And most surely Our host alone shall be the victorious ones. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 So turn (away) from them for a while, 178 and see, soon they shall see! 179 Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him! 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 and praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being. 182
Almighty Allah's Truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
