The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 and by the Book in lines 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
