And indeed Nuh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request). 75 And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning), 76 and We made his offspring the only survivors. 77 And We perpetuated to him (praise) among the later generations. 78 'Peace be upon Noah among all beings!' 79 Verily, thus do We reward the doers of good 80 Surely he was of Our believing servants. 81 Then We drowned the other (disbelievers and polytheists, etc.). 82 ۞ And indeed, among his kind was Abraham, 83 When he came to his Lord with a pure heart, 84 and [thus] spoke to his father and his people: "What is it that you worship? 85 Is it a falsehood-god beside Allah that ye desire? 86 What, then, do you think of the Sustainer of all the worlds?" 87 Then he looked up at the stars (they worshipped), 88 He then said, “I feel sick (of you)!” 89 So they went away from him, turning back. 90 Thereupon he approached their gods stealthily and said, "What! You do not eat [of the offerings placed before you]? 91 What is wrong with you that you do not speak?" 92 Then he attacked them, striking with his right hand. 93 Then came (the worshippers) with hurried steps, and faced (him). 94 "Why do you worship these you carve yourselves," he asked, 95 and God created you and what you make?' 96 They said, 'Build him a building, and cast him into the furnace!' 97 They had contrived an evil plan against him, but We abased them all. 98 And he said, “Indeed I shall go to my Lord Who will guide me.” 99 "My Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous." 100 So We gave him the good news of a boy ready to suffer and forbear. 101 And when he attained to working with him, he said: O my son! surely I have seen in a dream that I should sacrifice you; consider then what you see. He said: O my father! do what you are commanded; if Allah please, you will find me of the patient ones. 102 Then when the twain had submitted themselves and he had prostrated him upon his temple. 103 We called out to him: "O Abraham, 104 you have indeed fulfilled your dream. Thus do We reward the good-doers.” 105 It was certainly an open trial. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail peace be upon them is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 and left him thus to be remembered among later generations: 108 Peace be unto Abraham! 109 Thus indeed do We reward those who do right. 110 For he was one of our believing Servants. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Is-haq, a prophet, and of the righteous. 112 and blessed him and Isaac too: some of their offspring were good, but some clearly sinned against their souls. 113
