Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Say: It has been revealed to me that a company of Jinns listened (to the Qur'an). They said, 'We have really heard a wonderful Recital! 1 which guides to the right path; so we have believed in it and we will not associate anyone with our Lord, 2 And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: 3 and that “the foolish among us have been wont to say outrageous things about Allah”; 4 And lo! we had supposed that humankind and jinn would not speak a lie concerning Allah - 5 ‘And indeed some men among humans used to take the protection of some men among jinns, so it further increased their haughtiness.’ 6 And that they thought as you think, that Allah would not raise anyone: 7 ‘And we reached the sky, so we found it strongly guarded and filled with comets.’ 8 There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. 9 "'And [now we have become aware] that we [created beings] may not know whether evil fortune is intended for [any of] those who live on earth, or whether it is their Sustainer's will to endow them with consciousness of what is right: 10 And of us there are some righteous, and of us are some otherwise; we have been following very diverse paths. 11 and that “we thought that we will neither be able to frustrate Allah on earth, nor frustrate Him by flight”; 12 When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. 13 Some of us have come to submission, and some of us are iniquitous.'" Those who have submitted have taken the right course; 14 ‘And as for the unjust – they are the fuel of hell.’” 15 Had they (jinn and mankind) remained steadfast in their religion (Islam), We would certainly have given them abundant water to drink 16 that We might try them therein. And whosoever turns away from the Remembrance of his Lord, He will thrust him into chastisement rigorous. 17 and that “mosques belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone with Him”; 18 And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass." 19
